The message that the cartoonist is trying to convey to the viewer is that Obama is in fact in Lincoln's category due to his apparent "push for equality" and 'change" platforms. Conservatives/Republicans would most likely be offended by the cartoon just in the sense that Lincoln's social views based on party were polar opposites of what Obama's are currently. Some may interpret this as a way of mocking the great accomplishment that Lincoln acheieved in ending slavery and restoring the Union from 1861-1865 during the greatest division is US History when in reality they believe that Obama has done nothing postive and instead sent the country into a rapid downward spiral. Liberals most likely would agree with Obama because of his strides, once again, for "change and equailty" to move "forward." Obama is characterized as small, but oddly enough, not insignificant. By making the larger Lincoln Memorial with the "thumbs up" in an effort to display approval, Obama is almost, despite his size in the sketch, made to appear as equal to Lincoln in stature, a completely flattering demonstration for Obama. The artist utilizes the Lincoln Memorial as a symbol of great approval and applause toward Obama. By supporting Obama, one can infer that this cartoon supports the Liberal/Democratic platform, but no specifics are shown.
